Terms and Conditions & Privacy Policy

This page covers the following :

  • Our Privacy Policy
  • Our Cookies Policy
  • Our Service Promise

By using this website, you’re agreeing to these terms. If you don’t accept the terms, don’t ask us to find you a supplier. We recommend that you print these terms and conditions from time to time and keep a copy. You should do the same for any terms and conditions given to you by your chosen local supplier.

What I agree to as a user of Dinkd

This section details what you have agreed to as a dinkd user

I agree that Dinkd can contact me via email to update me on information about my live work items
I understand I can unsubscribe from these emails at any time, but will not hold Dinkd responsible for any issues resulting from my unsubscribing.
I agree that Dinkd may send emails reminding me about potential work my items may require (bike servicing, appliance servicing etc)
I agree that Dinkd will share my contact information with supplier I have chosen to work with

Your right to be forgotten

Dinkd will confirm your right to be forgetten. There is an option to delete your account in it's entriety from the dinkd database.

If you are having trouble finding this option you can contact info@dinkd.co.uk and we will remove your data manually.

If you chose to exercise the right to be forgotten, Dinkd will not be liable for any lost data.

1 Suppliers

All suppliers agree to the Dinkd Supplier Code of Conduct.

We act as an introducer between you (the customer) and local suppliers and these terms are for the use of the Dinkd website only. The terms on which the work or repair is completed are as agreed between you and your chosen supplier.

We remind all suppliers to give customers a copy of their terms and conditions, if applicable, when they provide a quote. If your chosen supplier hasn’t, please ask before you accept the quote. In the event of a conflict between the Dinkd website terms and your chosen supplier terms, the Dinkd terms will prevail, except in relation to job booking, payment and the guarantee where sections 3, 4 and 6 of these terms will prevail and take precedence.

You should be aware that although Dinkd will make best efforts to supply a trusted supplier the ultimate responsibility lies with you in ensuring you are happy with the terms on which the work will be completed and that the supplier is equipped to do the work you need.

Specifically we do not :

  • Credit check the company or individuals
  • Check the bankruptcy history of the individual supplier or directors of the company
  • Carry out a DBS disclosure check
  • Perform a full risk assessment of each individual supplier
  • Prove all documentation supplied by the supplier (e.g. Insurance certificates and qualification) to ensure they are not fraudulent

Should you have any doubts with your chosen supplier then you should and can cancel the job and let us know. We will then investigate the supplier and take appropriate action, potentially removing them from our service.

Suppliers

Suppliers when they purchase a 'dink' understand that this is a purchase of a lead to quote to a potential client. There is no understanding that they will win the work.

2 Prices

All prices quoted by suppliers on this site are their best effort estimates based on the information you provide.

The prices are not a commitment to carry out the work at the estimated price.

You have the right to cancel the work at any time before the work is actually carried out, though in some cases a cancellation charge may apply.

3 Job Booking, cancellation and charges

The process for booking a dink is as follows :

  1. You enter a description of the job you need doing and your post code and based on this information we will provide any local suppliers in your area
  2. When you click “post Dink” you consent to us sharing your information with the suppliers in your area to service your request. In the first instance this is limited to your postcode only
  3. If a local supplier accepts the job, we’ll match you and at this point we’ll pass on your name, address and contact number, so that the supplier can contact you to discuss the request. Depending on the nature of the work request, the supplier may be able to provide you with a quote over the phone. Some jobs may require a visit before a quote can be given. This is to be agreed with the supplier
  4. When the supplier arrives at your property, or you take your bike to their shop they will assess the job and provide you with a quote
  5. If you accept the quote they will then carry out the work

Rescheduling

If you need to reschedule your job just ask your supplier. Once you’ve agreed another time, your supplier will be able to change the date and time and send you an updated booking confirmation.

Cancellation and charges

You can cancel the job at any point of this process, but if you cancel the job after accepting the quote you may be charged either a cancellation charge, reasonable costs for work already carried out or materials already purchased and a restocking fee. To cover any reasonable inconvenience to the supplier, a cancellation charge will also apply if a mobile supplier cannot gain access to your premises. In this case, they will call you and wait a minimum of 10 minutes, but leave if they still cannot get access after this time.

4 Payment

Once the work is completed, you should make payment as soon as possible to the supplier.

5 Getting into your property

If you choose a mobile supplier, it’s your responsibility to give them access to your property.

6 Complaints

If you wish to make a complaint about the work, you should in the first instance contact the supplier directly to try to resolve the issue. If you are unable to get in touch with your supplier in a reasonable timescale, please get in touch with us through our Contact page and we will do our best to help.

Please note however that as the terms and conditions for the work are as agreed between you and your chosen supplier which we are not party to, any dispute or conflict in relation to the condition or quality of the work, or the way it was completed is ultimately your responsibility. We are under no obligation to provide you with a refund or compensation.

7 Our Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation or for any matter that we cannot exclude or limit as a matter of law. We introduce customers to tradespeople to provide the services described on the website, and are not responsible or liable for the end services that are provided. Therefore, to the extent permitted by law, (a) we disclaim any warranties, express or implied, and (b) other than as set out above, we are not liable for any loss or damage — direct or indirect and whether arising in contract, tort, or otherwise — even if we have been advised of the possibility of this loss or damage. These limitations don’t affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, if applicable and any laws that replace it. If you want independent advice about your rights, you can speak to Citizens Advice or Trading Standards.

8 If we need to talk to you

From time to time, we might need to contact you about your job request or booking. We’ll normally do that over email, which is why we need a valid email address from you if you agree to take a service through us.

In signing up to Dinkd we assume you agree to receive emails regarding the status of your dinks. You can unsubscribe but this means you will need to login to Dinkd to view the dink statuses

9 If you need to talk to us

You can contact us through our Contact page on the website

10 Changes to terms

We have the right to remove any service or supplier on our website at any time. We don’t have to give any notice, and if we do remove a service, we won’t be responsible to you. We also have the right to change these terms and conditions at any time, for example if we change our processes or if there are changes to laws or regulations which require us to update them. The terms and conditions applying to your use of the service will be those in force at the time you post a Dinkd.

Privacy Policy

How we store, protect and use the information you give us

This privacy policy is about how we use personal information about individuals, sole traders or partnerships. It doesn’t apply to the information we hold about companies or other organisations.

About this policy

We believe it’s important to protect your privacy. So we’re committed to giving you a personal service that meets your needs, at the same time as protecting that privacy. This policy explains how we’ll collect information about you and then use it to give you a good service. It also goes into the security measures we take to protect your privacy, and expands on a few things that we won’t do.

How we'll get in touch

When we first ask you for your personal information we’ll ask you if you want to receive information from us about our other products and services. You can change your mind at any time.

1 How we'll use your information

We may use your information to :

  • Give you the services you’ve asked for (which might include the loyalty and incentive schemes we run from time to time).
  • Help run and improve our accounts, services and products – ones we’ve provided before, now or in the future.
  • Create statistics, test our computer systems, create profiles and marketing opportunities, and analyse customer information. To do these things, we might use information about what you buy from us and how you pay for it. Like what discounts we’ve offered you, for example.
  • Help prevent and detect debt, fraud and loss.
  • Train our staff.
  • Get in touch with you about products and services that we are offering. That could be by email, phone, text, multimedia message or another form of electronic communication.

We may also monitor any communications we have with you, like emails. This is just to make sure we’re providing you with a good service and meeting our regulatory and legal responsibilities.

2 How we'll get in touch

We’ll use the contact information you’ve given us when we need to get in touch. So we might email you, give you a ring, send a text or use another form of electronic communication. If we’re getting in touch to tell you about offers, we’ll try and use your preferred contact method. We can stop sending you these offers at any time though, you just have to contact us and give us your details.

3 Passing your information on

In order to find someone to perform the services you requested, we will first share your postcode and the job details with the suppliers in your area in order to find someone. Once you have chosen a supplier, we will then pass on your information in order that they can contact you.

We may allow other people and organisations to use your information.

  • To give you the services you’ve asked for, which might include giving information to members of your family, household, anyone acting on your behalf or other people who have an interest (like landlords or letting agents).
  • As part of our sales process. To help find and prevent debt, fraud or loss (by passing your information on to a credit reference agency, for example).
  • To transfer any unpaid debt to another organisation – we’ll have to give them details about you and that debt.
  • For legal or regulatory purposes (if a lawyer asks for it). For future legal action.
  • As part of any loyalty or reward schemes.

4 Protecting your information

We have strict security measures to protect your personal information. This includes following our security procedures (like checking your identity when you call us) and encrypting all the data on our websites.

5 The internet

If you talk to us over the internet, we may occasionally email you about our services and products – unless you said you’d prefer us not to when you first gave us personal information through our website. If you don’t want us to send you these emails anymore, send us an email (to the address below) to let us know. Remember that communications over the internet like emails and webmails (messages sent through a website) aren’t secure unless you’ve encrypted them. These kinds of messages may go through a number of countries before they are delivered. That’s just the nature of the internet, so we can’t accept responsibility for any unauthorised access or loss of personal information if it’s beyond our control.

6 Cookies

We may use ‘cookies’ to monitor how people use our site. This helps us to understand how our customers and potential customers use our website so we can improve things like layout, function and design.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a piece of information stored on your computer’s hard drive that records how you’ve used a website. The next time you visit that website, it can tailor your options based on the information it has stored about your last visit.

How do I stop using cookies?

You can normally alter the settings of your browser to prevent it from accepting cookies, or to tell you when a website tries to put a cookie on your computer. (But you might not be able to use some of the products or services on our website without cookies). Have a look at our cookies policy to find out more about cookies and how to manage them.

7 Further Information

If you’d like any more information, or you have comments or questions about our privacy policy, write to us at: © Dinkd 2018 Registered Address : Dinkd, East House, 109 South Worple Way, London, SW14 8TN We may amend this policy from time to time. When that happens, we’ll publish the amended version on our website. But you can email or write to us to ask for a physical copy.

Cookies

What are cookies

Cookies are what websites use to improve and personalise your visits to that site in the future. They’re used by websites, apps and mobile sites to ‘remember’ you – either just for one visit (a session cookie) or for repeat visits (a persistent cookie). Cookies do lots of different jobs, like letting you navigate between pages easily, storing your preferences, and generally improving your experience of a website. It’s all to make the interaction between you and the website faster and easier. A cookie is a simple text file that’s stored on your computer (or mobile device) by a website’s server. Only that server will be able to see what’s on that cookie. Each cookie will contain anonymous information like your unique identifier number and the site you’re visiting, along with some other digits and numbers. This information lets the website remember things like your preferences, or what’s in your shopping basket. So each cookie is unique to your browser.

What cookies does our website use?

We use cookies to find out who you are (once you’ve logged in) and what device you’re using. We use three kinds of cookies:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: to let you move around the site and use all the basic features.
  • Functionality cookies: to improve the way the site works by storing your preferences.
  • Performance cookies: they give you a better user experience of our website.
  • Analytic cookies: these get sent to Google

Turning cookies off

If you don’t want us to use cookies in your browser, you can:

  • Remove cookies from your hard drive.
  • Set your browser to block cookies.
  • Set your browser to send you a warning notice before a cookie is stored on your computer.
  • But remember that you might not be able to make the most of our website (or other websites) without cookies – some functions need cookies to work. But turning off cookies isn’t permanent. You can also go into your settings to change them back and use everything on our site properly again.
